Playa CamaronalDespite many national infrastructure improvements, the "Green Season", or rainy season, still causes many coastal roads to flood and can make getting to Playa Camaronal difficult. There really is nowhere to stay and most visit Camaronal when in Nosara or Mal Pais. Beds can be found in Samara, only a few kilometers away. Getting to the break involves crossing narrow rivers and are best crossed at a low tide. This is always better in a 4x4. Playa Camaronal is a right beachbreak, with a sand bottom, by a rivermouth that can breaks best when sizeable west/southwest, swells chest high to double overhead, come through. There are a couple of typical Costa Rican restaurants that good Costa Rican food at good prices. Surfers will often camp on the beach. Always respect the locals. |
