Playa Jaco/Jaco Beach
Jaco BeachJaco is a small beachbreak that is protected by a westerly facing bay. When large southern swells create good surf at other breaks, Jaco is smaller and a good wave for beginners. It breaks pretty much up and down the entire length of the beach with lots of peaks. The optimium size for Jaco is chest high to a foot overhead. Bigger waves tend to close out. The best tide is a couple hours before high tide. low tide offers up whitewater great for learning. Jaco Beach is the closest beach to San Jose and the first stop for many traveling surfers. It is also in very close proximity to Playas Escondita and Hermosa which have consistently good surf. Jaco is a party town with just about anything you might want in entertainment being available. There is a choice of every imaginable hotel, restaurant, or bar in Jaco, from simple and inexpensive to high end.
