Playa LangostaPlaya Langosta is about mile south of Tamarindo and is a consistent beachbreak that can really get good. It is a stretch of beach where both lefts and rights break over a sand and rock bottom in front of a rivermouth. It very often picks up more swell than Tamarindo and breaks a little bit bigger as well. It can be very fun but not always perfect. You will usually be sharing waves with local Ticos and ex-pats from various parts of the world but it is not normally very crowded. Playa Langosta works best on a mid, incoming tide. You will have rocky boil takeoffs at lower tides. It breaks best with a West/Southwest swell and an East/Northeast wind. There are a few condos and private residences at Langosta. It really is a satellite beach for Tamarindo and you will probably being staying there. There is a small public parking lot about 200 meters from the break. |
