                                       Isla Uvita

Isla Uvita is a powerful reef break that breaks on an island located offshore from Puerto Limon. Isla Uvita is reportedly the island that Christopher Columbus landed on  on his fourth voyage to the "new world" in 1502 where, with a strong east swell, you can find incredible wave of up to triple overhead peeling over a live coral reef.

Isla Uvita is only accessible by a 40 minute boat ride and completely undeveloped. The reef is shallow and dangerous, especially since the closest medical facility is at least 45 minutes away. Not recommended for beginners.
