Welcome to Costa Rica Surfzone, the Costa Rica online Surf Magazine. We are a site dedicated to offering our visitors the best information about surfing in Costa Rica, and much more. Our mission is to be not just a Costa Rica surf site, but to be an interactive experience that will share all that Costa Rica has to offer in every way, and for our online visitors to be able to share their surf experiences, photos, videos, music, or just about anything with us and the rest of the world.
In Costa Rica Surfzone we divided Costa Rica into six zones, North Guanacaste, The Nicoya Peninsula, The Central Pacific, The South Central Pacific, The South Pacific and The Caribbean. Each Zone has a page dedicated to each of the beaches in the area known for surf, as well as some that are relatively unknown. On each of the 6 "Zone" pages you will find information about the particular zone, including such things as tide charts, a google map of the zone with road and terrain info, how to get there, the climate, and some of its history. The beach pages in the zone has information about the specific break, optimum swell direction and tides, prevalent winds, bottom type, a map of the area, and photos and/or a video of the wave. Also included are a list of restaurants and hotels. Because many of the breaks are in relatively isolated areas, hotel and restaurants are listed in towns or cities nearest the breaks. You will find these lists in Tamarindo Hotels and Restaurants in the North Guanacaste Zone, Nosara Hotels and Restaurants, and Mal Pais Hotels and Restaurants in the Nicoya Zone, Jaco and Hermosa Hotels and Restaurants in the Central Pacific Zone, Dominical Hotels and Restaurants in the South Central Pacific Zone, Pavones Hotels and Restaurants and Osa Peninsula Hotels and Restaurants in the South Pacific Zone, and Cahuita and Puerto Viejo Hotels and Restaurants in the Caribbean Zone. The hotel and restaurants are in alphabetical order. We have tried, as much as possible, to tell you whether a hotel is rated and how many stars it has received, as well as the starting prices for rooms. Restaurants have the type of cuisine you can expect to find. Each month we will have an original essay about the History of surfing, from it's roots up through today, a Surf Dictionary that will share the incredibly colorful language of surfing and surfers, a History of Costa Rica and its heritage, a page, "My Wave!", dedicated to share photos, videos, and original music from our web guests, and a Community Service page dedicated to stimulate and discuss ideas and projects that can make our world a better place, starting at home. We have tried to include photos, videos and all the information that you might need to help make a trip to the beautiful surfers paradise of Costa Rica a fun, relaxed, fruitful experience, and much, much more! We want to help make your ideal surf trip happen and if you can't get to Costa Rica right now we want you to share and enjoy our magazine, and what Costa Rica has to offer. We want it to be your online Surf Magazine. We at Costa Rica Surfzone see our site as ever evolving and growing, with your help. So, visit often, take your time, explore our site, send us feedback, photos and videos, and stories of your amazing experiences. We will post them for the world to share on your "My Wave" page (find it in our Table of Contents on our Home page). Help us make Costa Rica Surfzone the best surf site on the web. Remember, when you're surfing, every day really is a beautiful day!
